I see raptors around when I’m out running quite often. I always notice them because they’re big or fast and their silhouettes are usually striking. The last year or two I’ve seen a lot of Red Kites (taking over territory I’d associate with buzzards) wheeling in the air and circling throughout the Peak District and it occurred to me to start drawing one. However, I soon dropped the reference (a grainy photograph from somewhere over the back of Youlgrave) and just started drawing what came through me instead.
This piece is A3 size, printed on Innova High White fine art cotton stock by Untitled Print in Sheffield. Its archival quality, which means it’ll last 100 years if its stored correctly (under glass, out of direct sunlight etc.).
